2019 IEEE International Conference on Blockchain
A Lightweight Blockchain-based Privacy Protection for Smart Surveillance at the Edge
Alex Demo, Yu Sample, S. Reference — Demo University
Abstract — Witnessing the increasingly pervasive deployment of security video surveillance systems, more individuals have become concerned with the issues of privacy violations. While the public is favourable in terms of crime deterrence, the invasive monitoring of private life is contested.
The benefits of surveillance must be balanced. Privacy-preserving solutions remain elusive for video surveillance systems. The recent success of blockchain technology has shed light on this challenge.

Every icon at the top — what it does
Email Notification, QR Code, Save to Repository, Digital Receipt, File Information, Download (PDF/HTML/Summary), Settings (exclude quotes/refs/small sources), Share Analysis Page Link, Grades, and More Options (Share Feedback / User Manual / Switch to Old View).
18.8.1.1 Email Notification
Click the email icon to open a popup and enter a recipient email. DrillBit sends a Download Report link to that email for convenient access and sharing.
18.8.1.2 QR Code
Scan the QR code with a mobile device to download the plagiarism report — useful for quick, on-the-go review and collaboration.
18.8.1.3 Save to Repository
Save analysed documents to the DrillBit global repository for future reference and comparison.
Threshold: only documents with a similarity percentage below 30% can be saved to the repository via the Analysis Report.
18.8.1.4 Digital Receipt
Print a confirmation of analysis completion. Select the document type (synopsis, dissertation, thesis, article) and fill in the required details to print the receipt.
18.8.1.5 File Information
The file-info icon shows Submission Details (upload date, user), Text Info (word and character count), and File Metadata (name, size, format).
18.8.1.6 Download
Export the report as PDF (printable), HTML (interactive web view), or Summary Report (key details like submission info, similarity percentage, excluded sources).
18.8.1.7 Settings
Refine the plagiarism result by excluding quotes, references/bibliography, and small sources. The tab is organized into four columns: Total Content, Similarity %, Sources, and an Exclude/Include toggle for dynamic adjustment.
Small-source default: if the Exclude Small Sources threshold is set higher than the file's total word count, the setting automatically defaults to excluding sources with fewer than 14 words.
18.8.1.8 Share Analysis Page Link
Share the analysis page with guides or supervisors by email. The recipient receives an Access Analysis Page button valid for 5 hours — they can review, adjust exclude/include settings, and use every feature without logging in.
Revoke access: if extended access is needed, the recipient can select Revoke Access in the same email to request a fresh link for another period.
18.8.1.9 Grades
When Allow Assignment Grading is Yes in assignment settings, a grading icon appears on the Analysis Page.
Click the grading icon to open the grading popup.
Provide feedback, enter marks, and optionally check Send feedback to Student via Email.
Click Submit to save marks and feedback.
18.8.1.10 More Options
Share Feedback – pop-up for sending comments or suggestions about the new analysis page.
User Manual – a full in-app guide with screenshots, a downloadable PDF, a linked Table of Contents, and a Scroll-to-Top option on every page.
Switch to Old View – toggle back to the previous analysis page layout.

Score ranges
Four bands tell you how original a paper is
Satisfactory (0–10%) is generally acceptable. Upgrade (11–40%) needs review. Poor (41–60%) signals significant overlap. Unacceptable (61–100%) requires critical revision.
Satisfactory (0-10%) – minimal similarity, generally acceptable.
Upgrade (11-40%) – moderate similarity, may need review and content improvement.
Poor (41-60%) – high similarity, significant overlap to address.
Unacceptable (61-100%) – very high similarity, critical need for revisions.
18.8.3 Exclude & Include Sources
The analysis report has two tabs — Matched Sources and Excluded Sources — with counts next to each label.

Sources control
Exclude or include any source — bulk or one-click
Click the dropdown arrow to see alternates, the link icon to visit the source, ticked checkboxes + Exclude for bulk action, or the green/red arrow for direct exclude/include.
18.8.3.1 Matched Sources
All sources found in the analysis. If content matches multiple sources, DrillBit groups them under a primary source with the highest percentage and lists the rest as alternate sources.
Click the dropdown icon next to a primary source to view alternates.
A link icon lets you visit the external source.
Select checkboxes and click Exclude to move sources to Excluded.
A green arrow next to a source means no alternates exist — clicking it excludes the source directly.
When a primary source is excluded, the alternate is automatically highlighted as the next candidate.
18.8.3.2 Excluded Sources
Sources moved out of Matched appear here. Select checkboxes and click Include (or the red arrow) to move a source back to Matched and update the report.
Bulk toggle: excluding or including the primary source along with its alternates propagates automatically — re-including a primary source brings all alternates back.
18.8.4 Matched Sources & Content Navigation
Click any source in the analysis report to jump to the matched content in the document. Click a highlighted section of content to reveal the source in the sources list. This two-way navigation makes reviewing matches fast.

Two visualization modes — cluster views and time-zone views, Citespace stands out as a composite bibliometric software well operationalizing the focal points of "research fronts" and "intellectual bases".
Linguistic parameters remain unbound. The total number of articles are reduced to 2101 as per the setting of article types, "Article", "Review Article" and "Review Article".
Click any matched text → drill into the exact source
The popup shows the source title and label (Primary or Alternate), matched-words breakdown, source metadata (crawl date, link, status), live Quotes/References toggles, and prev/next arrows that walk every match from the same source.
When you select a source, the first word of the matched content is highlighted yellow and a source block pop-up appears with:
Source Title & Type – source name, type (Publication, Internet Data), and a label (Primary Source or Alternate Source).
Matched Words Breakdown – Total Matched Words, Normal Words, Quotes Matched Words, Reference Matched Words.
Source Metadata – Crawling/Repository Date, Domain (link opens the source), and Status (available / not available).
Settings Data – Quotes and References toggles reflect the current settings; changes immediately affect the matched source block.
Navigation Controls – next and previous arrows walk through every match from the same source.
Student / Repository papers: if the source is a student or repository paper, the Domain is Not Available and the Status is Restricted.
18.8.4.2 Matched Content Navigation
Click any highlighted section of content in the document to highlight the corresponding source in the sources list — perfect for evaluating relevance in context.

Side-scroll thumbnails for fast page jumping
Each page thumbnail is colour-coded by its initial similarity. Click any thumbnail to load that page in the main analysis view. The thumbnail colour stays locked to the initial scan even after you adjust exclusions.
The side scroll panel lets you jump directly to any page of the analysis in the main window. Pages are colour-coded based on the initial upload; the page scroll colour doesn't change after you make edits, even though colour updates will appear on the live page.
18.9 Paper ID
A unique identifier assigned to every submission — essential for searching and tracking individual files.

Top icons & Document Error
Refresh, CSV export, search — plus DocError diagnostics
The submissions toolbar offers Refresh, CSV download, and a Paper ID search. A red 0% chip flags a Document Error (with detailed reasons). 100% chips with warnings indicate the document is entirely Quotes or entirely References/Bibliography.
Refresh – refresh the page to see new submissions.
Submission Report Download – downloads a CSV with Author Name, Title, Similarity, AI Score, File Size (KB), Pages, Paper ID, Folder Name, Submitted Date, Repository Status, Email, Folder ID, Document Type, File Name, Language, College Name, and Grammar.
Search Bar – search for a submission by Paper ID.
Document Error: a 0% with a red background in the file overview indicates a Document Error. Causes include excessive quotes, DocErrors, or too many references. See the DocError documentation for specifics.
