Open the new folder form
From the My Folders page, click the + button at the bottom right. A side drawer slides in — enter the folder name to begin.
Log in to DrillBit.
Navigate to My Folder in the left sidebar.
Click the + icon at the bottom of the page.
Enter a Folder Name.

Tune the six folder settings
Walk through each Yes/No toggle. Flipping Exclude small sources on reveals a threshold-words box (default 14); turning on Exclude Phrases opens a per-phrase input with Add and Remove controls.
Configure the folder using these Yes/No toggles:
1. Exclude Reference / Bibliography
Toggle Yes to exclude references and bibliographic material from the plagiarism check so citations aren't flagged as non-original text.
2. Exclude Quotes
When Yes, quoted material is excluded from the plagiarism check — useful so properly cited quotes aren't mistakenly flagged.
3. Exclude Small Sources
Specify a word count to exclude small matched sources. Minimum 1, standard 14 as per guidelines, maximum 9,999. Any matched source with words less than or equal to the entered number will be excluded.
Grammar Check: enable it to run a grammar check on every submission in the folder. Documents are reviewed for plagiarism and language quality.
4. Exclude Phrases
Toggle Yes to open a box for up to 15 phrases, each up to 200 characters. Phrases are excluded from the similarity check, useful for common or technical terminology.
Case-sensitive: excluded phrases are case-sensitive — enter them exactly as they appear in the documentation for accurate exclusion.
5. Email Notification
Choose whether or not to receive email notifications for submissions related to this folder.

Pick comparison sources, then submit
All four databases default to YES — Student Papers, Journals & Publishers, Internet or Web, Institution Repository. Click Submit and the new folder appears immediately in the My Folders table.
At least one comparison option must be selected:
Student Papers – compare against other student papers submitted to DrillBit.
Journals & Publishers – compare against academic journals and publications.
Internet or Web – compare against internet content including websites, blogs, and articles.
Institution Repository – compare against your institution's repository of previous submissions.
Once configured, click Submit to finish the folder creation process.
